Merlin

So this is my entry for Msrednotdead's Create a House & Sim Family Contest in the TV Show section.



It is the Camelot castle as seen in the TV show Merlin as well as the cast. It was originally on a larger lot (biggest lot size) but I redid it onto a smaller lot, 50x50, because I was experiencing a little lag. This disappointed me because I had wanted to add a lot of landscaping but had to cut it all back on the smaller lot. But I am happy with how it came out.

It was rather difficult! I'm horrible at making Sims after real people and the castle was definitely hard. I spent a lot of time watching episodes of the show to try and make the rooms as similar as possible. For some parts of the rooms I had to piece parts together and for some I could not find images/video of rooms so I had to make them up. Plus I added some of my own ideas on what rooms would be there that we don't see on the show. I also added decoration and things like a pond and gardens that obviously are not on the show.

There are no televisions or computers but I put desks and areas for tv's throughout the house incase you would like to add some.

There are some noticeable changes, for example, in order to make Gwen a part of the household her home has to be in the castle instead of in the lower town like on the show.
I couldn't make it 100% accurate, which saddens me, but I hope all you other Merlin fans do enjoy it :)

The castle that they film at is the Chateau de Pierrefonds and I tried to match the castle up to the real pictures. Here are some pictures!

Camelot is strong, beautiful and ruled by Uther Pendragon. Camelot has been home to many heroes but also to many battles and deaths. Uther has made it a law that no magic is allowed in Camelot and anyone caught using it will be sentenced to death.

Merlin is a young man who, with the use of magic, will protect prince Arthur and Camelot.

Merlin travels to Camelot to live with and learn from, Gaius. It is here that he meets the Great Dragon and is told that he must help and protect Arthur, so that he may one day become king. Merlin is very brave but can also be a bit clumsy. He also has a great sense of humor and can battle Arthur right back with insults.

 Besides for Gaius, who helps him with magic, he must keep is magic secret from everyone including Arthur. Merlin's mother is a simple farm wife who loves and worried about Merlin. He finds out that his father was a great Dragonlord and after meeting him he dies but Merlin learns that he too is a Dragonlord.

Arthur is the prince of Camelot. He can be very arrogant, rude and snotty but deep down he is a very kind and caring young man. He is an excellent fighter but does not know that Merlin secretly helps and protects him. Unlike his father, Arthur believes in giving people second changes, he sees the good in people and dislikes the harsher punishments his father gives people. Even though he can be rude to Merlin, he cares about him and sees him as a friend. Arthur also has feelings for Morgana's maid, Guinevere.

Guinevere, also known as Gwen, is Morgana's maid. She is the daughter of a blacksmith that Uther had killed. Gwen is very kind, brave and sweet. She has feelings for Arthur but also finds herself having feelings for Lancelot.

Morgana is known as Uther's ward but she is actually Uther's daughter. She does not know this at first but later finds out. Morgana suffers from nightmares and she finds out that she is a seer. Fearing what Uther might do to her if he finds out that she has magical powers, she hides it from him. Throughout all of this her anger and hatred for Uther builds up and she finds herself wanting him dead. With the guidance of a woman named Morgause, which Morgana finds out is her sister, they work together to bring down Uther and all that is good in Camelot. 

Uther is the king of Camelot. He can be a very cruel man but deep down he cares for Camelot and its people. He has had many magic users killed and for this he is known as a tyrant. Due to the magical birth of Arthur and the death of his wife, he has blamed and started wars over magic and now all magic is outlawed.

Gaius is Camelots physician and treats the royal family. Merlins mother asked him to take Merlin in and he did. He now sees Merlin as a son and they care for each other very much. He knows of Merlins magic and teaches him because he too knows magic. He has occasionally used his magic but is a bit rusty since its been outlawed for so long.

The Great Dragon, Kilgharrah, was locked up deep within the dungeons of Camelot. He is the last of his kind and was locked up by Uther. He is the one who revealed to Merlin his destiny. Merlin, keeping his promise, lets the Great Dragon loose and the dragon tries to destroy Camelot. Merlin, through learning that his father was a dragonlord, discovers he is one too and creates the special bond with the Great Dragon. It is then that Merlin makes the dragon stop since he must obey and they forever hold this bond.

This is the room you go to when you request an audience with the King. Uther sits in the middle, Arthur to his right and Morgana sits to his left.

This is the dining room where the Pendragon family and their guests dine.

This is the formal dining room. Anytime there is a Pendragon party or they are hosting games, this is where everyone gets together for fun, food and drinks. To the right of the picture you can see the platform for the entertainment.

This the weapon room where weapons and armor are stored during a tournament. As you may remember, its the room where the magical snake shield was stored.

This is Gaius & Merlin's home. Since Gaius is the royal physician, the home is filled with books, potions and herbs. The door straight back goes into Merlins room. 

As you can see, on the end table is Merlin's book of magic that he forgot to hide!

This is Guinevere's (Gwen) Home. I also added a small storage room off of the bathroom where you might remember Gwen had to sleep when Arthur stayed over and took her bed.

This is the library where you can find books, old records and even little goblins!
